2008 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony

Tonight was the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympics! Did you watch it? Yes, I realize that it was very much tape delayed, but we gathered around the television with our Chinese food for dinner and I started knitting a pair of socks. Maybe you’re wondering why I started knitting a pair of socks. Well, it all has to do with RAVELYMPICS!If you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, Ravelry.com is a cool website for knitters and crocheters to gather together to showcase their projects, talk with fellow craftsters and share their knowledge. Several members of Ravelry created Ravelympics where events were created and teams gathered to compete in a friendly competition of who could complete their projects in the same time span as the Olympics.

I joined the Sock Put event and my goal is to finish one pair of men’s socks by the closing ceremony in about sixteen days. It should be feasible, I will keep you updated!

So far, I’ve cast on and knitted one round and just a couple of hours, but with four kids, I kept getting interrupted! It looks like a mess right now, but trust me, it’ll look better!

Tune in tomorrow for an update and also another knick knack. I have found something really cool to share! TTFN!
